More than 3 lakh 6 thousand officers / employees and pensioners of the state government and Panyayat are entitled to dearness allowance for the remaining three months from October 2016 to December 2017. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Nitinbhai Patel in consultation with Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani decided to pay the amount of 3 crore arrears.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Nitinbhai Patel has said that the state government had decided to give 3% dearness allowance to more than 02 lakh 41 thousand officers / employees and pensioners of the state government from 01.08,2018. This expensive allowance is being paid with salary every month from January 2020. It was decided to pay the difference of the total allowance of 3 months from 01.08.2018 to 31.12.2018 to the state employees and pensioners. Out of this, the amount was paid from July 2016 to September 2018 and the arrears of three months inflation allowance from October 2016 to December 2017 were due. It has decided to pay the arrears along with the August salary.

Mr. Patel added that after consultation with the Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani, the officers / employees / pensioners have been decided by the State Government to pay the difference of the outstanding dearness allowance. Benefiting from the 7th pay commission, the officers / employees / pensioners of the state government and the panchayat will be paid the amount of these arrears of three months dearness allowance from October 2017 to December 2018 along with the salary for the month of August. Due to this payment, the state government will have to bear an additional burden of about Rs 5 crore. A total of 4,11,17 state government employees and 4,50,308 pensioners will get the benefit.
