There is good news for Central government employees. After the announcement of the dearness allowance (DA) hike, now the Centre has also revised the house rent allowance (HRA) for the Central government employees. From August, the Central government employees will receive an increased HRA as per the revised rates.


Double bonanza for Central government employees


The Department of Expenditure had issued an order on 7 July 2017 stating that when the dearness allowance crosses 25 percent, the house rent allowance will be revised. Since July 1, the dearness allowance has been hiked to 28 percent, due to which the house rent allowance has also been revised.



New delhi date.  : With the increase in the cost of living allowance of central employees, one more good news is coming.  The HRA has now also been revised after the government increased the DA.  Therefore, HRA will also be increased in the salary for the month of August.  As per the government's order, HRA has been increased as DA has gone up by more than 5 per cent.

7th Pay Commission: After DA hike, another good news for Central government employees*


 As per the Finance Ministry order, central employees will now get 5 per cent, 12 per cent and 5 per cent house rent, depending on their city.  This classification is for X, Y and Z class cities.  This means that a central employee who lives in an X class city will now get more HRA.
 According to Harishankar Tiwari, former president of the AG Office Brotherhood, Allahabad and assistant secretary general of the All India Audit and Accounts Association, the central government changed the HRA system after the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission.  Its categories X, Y and Z were created.  Accordingly, it was decided to get 3, 12 and 5 per cent HRA.

 According to Harishankar Tiwari, the X category is at the top with cities with a population of over 3 million.  Central employees working there will now get 3% HRA.  While H category will get 12% in Y category and 3% in Z category.  Tiwari said cities are also being upgraded under HRA.  That is, if the population of a city exceeds 3 lakhs, it will be upgraded from Z category to Y category.
