Having studied in government or aided primary schools consecutively in class 1 to 8 and completed class 8 as per the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (RTE Act, 2009) and the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules, 2012 framed thereunder Under the provision of free education to the children of weaker sections and underprivileged groups between 6 to 14 years of age in independent schools to the extent of 25% of the class size, the bright students who have completed continuous studies from class- I to class- VIII in self- supporting schools on the basis of merit are given by Govt./ Granted or fixed. To select 25,000 bright students of the state of Gujarat every year and give them scholarships for their studies from class 9 to 12 in order to get admission in secondary schools from standard 9th to standard 12th among self- supporting schools selected according to the Act. Hon'ble Chief Minister Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship Scheme' has been implemented. a) All students, irrespective of income limit, whether they have studied Class 1 to 8 consecutively in Government or aided primary schools and are studying or passed Class 8
b) Under the provisions of Section 12(1) (c) of the RTE Act 2009, students admitted in Class- I within the limit of 25% who are studying in Class- VIII and whose parents' income Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship Examination Students whose income does not exceed the prescribed income limit for admission under Section 12(1) (c) of the RTE Act 2009 will be able to take the examination.

There will be no free for Chief Minister Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship Exam.
♦ Test Structure
This exam was of multiple choice form and different objective form (Multiple Choice Question- MCQ Based).
The medium of examination will be Gujarati/ English.
The exam will have the following subjects and marks.

The 40 questions of the MAT Mental Aptitude Test will be of verbal and non- verbal logical reasoning. These questions include Analogy, 807290 (Classification), Numerical Series, Pay (Pattern Perception). There will be general knowledge subject based questions as per Hidden Figure standard.
The 80 questions of SAT Academic Aptitude Test will consist of Maths-20 marks Science-20 marks and Social Science-15 marks, English-10 marks, Gujarati-10, Hindi-5 marks subjects of Class-8.
The syllabus of class-8 will be of the above subject.
According to the number of students registered for the examination and examination- oriented administrative convenience, the test examination centers will be decided by the State Examination Board, Gandhinagar in that taluka in the state of Gujarat. (Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board's Class-10th and Class-12th Examination Centre) The student has to attend the examination at the examination center allotted by the Board at his/ her own expense.
