The central government has made the biggest announcement among government employees. The Department of Employees, Public Grievances and Pensions has issued a notification to regularize the services of Central Government employees under the National Pension Scheme (NPS). According to a report, the central government has given a big facility to its employees. Employees who have completed the qualifications of the Central Government are allowed to avail the benefits of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) beyond the National Pension System (NPS). Now its benefit can be availed till 31st May 2021.

Eligible employees will have to apply by May 5, 2021 to avail the full Pension Scheme (OPS). Government employees who do not apply will continue to benefit under the provisions of the National Pension System. So government employees appointed between 1 January 2004 and 28 October 2009 and receiving pension benefits under the CCS (Pension) rule will continue to get the same benefits as before.

According to a report, between January 1, 2004 and October 28, 2009, state government employees were forced to take voluntary retirement after January 1, 2004 and before October 28, 2009 due to non-receipt of the benefit of counting back services under the old pension system.
Employees will be considered for technical retirement to take voluntary retirement.
