Janmashtami is one of the major festivals of Hindus.  This festival is celebrated in the form of the birthday of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Hari Vishnu.  The festival of Janmashtami is celebrated for two days.  This year also Janmashtami will be celebrated on 30-31 August.  Sadhu-sannyasa, Shaivite sect celebrates Janmashtami on Monday i.e. 30th August.  While in the temples of Vaishnava sect, Janmashtami will be celebrated on Tuesday i.e. 31st August.  It is believed that on the first day the monk-hermit, the Shaivite sect celebrates Janmashtami every year, while on the second day the Vaishnava sect and the Vrajavasi celebrate the festival.
